Charles Polevich pleaded guilty last May to running over Robert Maraj and abandoning him on the shoulder of a Long Island (New York) highway in February 2021. In the sentencing hearing that has now been held, the judge who has taken the case has criticized the “cold and insensitive reaction” he deployed after the accident that finally claimed the life of the father of the famous rapper. However, the fact that he has no criminal record and did not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs have played in his favor when it comes to receiving a lighter sentence of one year in jail, which he is expected to serve eight months.

In addition to his admission to a Nassau County jail, Polevich, 72, faces a $5,000 fine and has had his driver’s license revoked for six months.

Robert’s widow and mother of the famous rapper, Carol Maraj, has reacted to this news by assuring that it is a slap in the face for his family because the condemned abandoned the deceased in the street “as if he were a dog”. He has also appealed to the judge’s criteria assuring that Polevich is not “a good citizen” whose reintegration into society will be beneficial.

Charles Polevich stopped after running nicki’s father over with his car and asked him how he was doing, but he did not attend or notify the emergency services. Robert died the next day after driving home and asking his family to take him to the hospital.
