Feb 23 (Reuters) – Acciona and the renewables division of Britain’s SSE have agreed to form a joint venture to develop offshore wind energy projects in Spain and Portugal, also joining forces to explore joint opportunities in other markets.
“This agreement with SSE Renewables will allow us to accelerate our entry into the offshore wind market, in which we see high potential,” said Rafael Mateo, Acciona’s head of energy.
“Partnering with a leading renewable player in Spain and Portugal will allow us to put our offshore wind expertise to serve both countries’ goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050,” added Jim Smith, CEO of SSE Renewables.
Additionally, Acciona will contribute 50% to this company with its network integration and energy management technology through its Renewable Energy Control Center, according to a press release.
