Actor Jonathan Majors was recently arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in New York City. TMZ reported that the altercation occurred in a taxi after the couple left a bar in Brooklyn. The dispute began when the girlfriend saw Majors texting another woman and confronted him about it. The situation escalated, leading to Majors allegedly slapping and choking his girlfriend. The victim was dropped off somewhere while Majors spent the night elsewhere. He was charged with misdemeanour assault, aggravated harassment, attempted assault, and harassment, but he was released without bail and has a court date set for May.
Majors’ attorney issued a statement proclaiming his innocence and claiming that there’s evidence to prove it. According to the attorney, video footage from the vehicle where the alleged incident took place, witness testimony from the driver and onlookers, and two written statements from the woman recanting her allegations prove that Majors is innocent. Moreover, the attorney stated that the incident was caused by the girlfriend’s emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital the previous day. The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. She expects the charges to be dropped soon.
Police in New York responded to a 911 call at a Chelsea apartment. Majors, who is 33 years old, was taken into custody without incident on Saturday night. The unnamed victim, a 30-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries to her head and neck, according to authorities. Previously, a representative for Majors denied the allegations, stating that he has done nothing wrong. In recent weeks, Majors has been experiencing a large degree of success thanks to significant roles in “Creed III” and Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”. He was also seen at the Oscars a few weeks ago as one of the presenters.
