The Star Wars universe has always had a devoted fan following. Few characters, like Ahsoka Tano, who first debuted as Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice in the iconic animated franchise “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” succeed in capturing the imagination and devotion of viewers. When Rosario Dawson adopted her tentacular hairstyle in the second installment of “The Mandalorian,” Ahsoka made her live-action debut and rapidly became as important to the series as the other iconic characters. A fresh live-action show from Disney+ is on the way. So far, here’s what we hear.
Who is Ahsoka Tano?
Ahsoka Tano was an apprentice of Anakin Skywalker, who would eventually become the antagonist Darth Vader, and was part of an extraterrestrial species known as the Togruta. During the Clone Wars, she fought with Anakin and went on to become a Jedi with her own right. She lost trust in the “Jedi Council” after being wrongly accused of an assault at the Jedi Temple, and she left the Order to forge her own path. After joining the Rebellion, she was reconciled with her former master, who had already worn the distinctive black helmet and surrendered his soul to the Dark Side. She was saved by another apprentice named Ezra Bridger after a brutal fight with Vader, who subsequently vanished in a fight against the Empire.
Storyline of Ahsoka
It is worth mentioning that the Ahsoka spin-off series has been anticipated for quite some time before she ever appeared on “The Mandalorian.” According to reports, it will involve Zeb, Hera, and the Ghost’s loyal robot, Chopper, from “Star Wars Rebels” continuing their search for the missing Ezra Bridger. This makes sense, considering Ahsoka’s previous chronological presence before meeting Din and Baby Yoda in The Mandalorian.
Apart from assisting Mando in better understanding Grogu, his background, and prospective future, the current Star Wars series also revealed that former Jedi Togruta is on the watch for Grand Admiral Thrawn. He escaped to hyperspace alongside Ezra at the conclusion of “Star Wars Rebels.” Because the Ahsoka program will be based around the same period as “The Mandalorian,” the plot will most likely focus upon her search to the Chiss strategist, who seems to build up to something nefarious that may or may not be related to Moff Gideon’s activity. This might also be the link between the Dawson-led program and “Rangers of the New Republic,” a future Star Wars sequence.
The Cast Information Of Ahsoka
The cast information has yet to be revealed by the creators. Here is the expected list of cast as per radiotimes:
Rosario Dawson in the role of Ahsoka Tano
Natasha Liu Bordizzo is the role of Sabine Wren
Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader
Though Ashley Eckstein portrayed Ahsoka in The Clone Wars and Rebels, Rosario Dawson portrayed the role in The Mandalorian, and she will reprise the character in Ahsoka. Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who succeeds Tiya Sircar in the role of Sabine Wren, will join Dawson.
In other casting headlines, Hayden Christensen is having a very stellar season. He is not only portraying Darth Vader in “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” but he is also joining the Ahsoka cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It is still unknown if he will portray Vader, ‘Sky Guy,’ or both forms of the character. However, since he is deceased at this point in the Star Wars chronology, he will most likely resurface in memories or as a Force ghost.
Katee Sackhoff seems to be a strong contender to reprise her role as Bo-Katan Kryze, princess of Mandalorian. She was the one who informed Mando of Ahsoka’s presence on Corvus, indicating that they were still in touch.
We do not know where Trooper Captain Rex is now, but given that he was one of Ahsoka’s closest friends during “The Clone Wars,” a reconciliation would be very pleasant. That may imply a cameo for Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett in “The Book of Boba Fett” and was the inspiration for all the Clones.
It will be intriguing to see who joins the cast as Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger. It would be interesting if both Lars Mikkelsen and Taylor Gray reprised their roles since Sackhoff is the only voice actor from the animated series to portray their character in live-action. However, when you imagine Mikkelsen in blue color, it is evident that he would make a fantastic Thrawn.
The return of digital Mark Hamill in the role of Luke Skywalker might be the most exciting prospect for the Ahsoka cast. They would have enough to speak about as the galaxy’s two most influential Force practitioners. Apart from reminiscing over Luke’s father, they could debate why Ahsoka rejected the chance to teach Grogu while Luke took it with both hands.
Release Window Of Ahsoka On Disney+
It was one of several upcoming Star Wars, and Marvel TV projects revealed at Disney Investor Day, but it seems that no release date for the Ahsoka TV program has been set.
Lucasfilm and Disney have not said when the limited series would premiere on Disney Plus, and a report in Empire claims that Dave Filoni is still writing scripts, indicating that there is still a long way to go.
“Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “Andor,” ” The Book of Boba Fett,” and the third installment of “The Mandalorian” all are in Lucasfilm’s production pipeline and are supposed to release before the Ahoska TV series. Therefore we would be amazed if it comes out before 2023.
Trailer for Ahsoka
It is too early to anticipate an Ahsoka teaser while the show is still in the writing stage, particularly because Lucasfilm rarely releases a trailer more than a month before its release.
As of now, we will have to rewatch some Ahsoka-focused Star Wars Rebels and Clone Wars episodes on Disney Plus.
