Alison Hammond has been announced as the new co-host for the popular baking competition series, “The Great British Bake Off”. Hammond, a beloved television personality and former “Big Brother” contestant, recently co-hosted the BAFTA Film Awards. She confirmed the casting announcement on TikTok on Friday. Hammond is set to replace former host Matt Lucas on the Channel 4 series, which has a loyal following on Netflix. She will co-host the show with Noel Fielding, while judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are set to return.
Hammond has also previously appeared on the celebrity version of “The Great British Bake Off”. Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer, Ian Katz, said, “Alison is much loved, effortlessly funny and the owner of the best laugh in Britain. She was a huge hit when she appeared on ‘Celebrity Bake Off’ and we’re thrilled to have her back in the tent.”
Love Productions, the producer of “The Great British Bake Off”, recently admitted that Season 13 was “not our strongest”, and has announced that the show will be going back to basics. The new season is yet to have a premiere date.
In addition to hosting “The Great British Bake Off”, Hammond is known for appearing on various shows such as “ITV’s This Morning” and for conducting viral celebrity interviews, including one with Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in which she admitted she had never seen “Blade Runner”.
