“It is a coveted space. We can’t think of anything more worthy than giving it to the latest season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. This is a beloved show and we wanted to give it space where it had access to the widest possible audience, “said Susan Rovner of NBCUniversal.

The new season of the series was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has inspired some of the new episodes, as well as the issue of police brutality and racism after a year of protests by George Floyd.

How many seasons does the Brooklyn 99 series have?

Why did they cancel Brooklyn 99?

From 2013 to 2017, Fox produced the first five seasons of the series, but announced its cancellation on May 10, 2018, due to a drop in ratings, although it enjoyed excellent reviews from critics and the public.

In the debut season, it had an average rating of 6 million people, but the fifth was around two million, so Fox decided to renew it despite Internet campaigns style “Save Brooklyn Nine-Nine”.

Finally, NBC acquired the rights to Brooklyn 99 and announced that they would take control of the production for a sixth season which was released on January 10, 2019, with the original cast.
