Captain Marvel 2: Everything Known So Far
  • In “Avengers: Endgame”, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, and Iron Man & Co. saved the world from the evil titan Thanos.
  • Now a sequel to her solo film from 2019 is to follow.
  • That’s why we have collected all information about the stars, the cinema release and the plot of the next MCU blockbuster “Captain Marvel 2” for you.

When the star-like character of Captain Marvel first appeared in the post-credit sequence of “Avengers: Infinity War,” the MCU fan base was thrilled. But Oscar-winner Brie Larson (“Raum”) had a rather mixed start in 2019 with her first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Marvel Carol Denver: But the high income of over a billion US dollars made up for the sometimes negative reviews and fan votes.

In the first solo adventure of a superhero in the MCU, Brie Larson has to prevent the Skrull invasion of her home planet as Captain Marvel. After a failed mission, she lands on Earth in the 1990s, where she meets the two SHIELD agents Nick Fury ( Samuel L. Jackson ) and Phil Coulson ( Clark Gregg ). Together they not only reveal the secret of their mysterious past but also discover a plot that threatens the entire universe. Her next appearance was in “Avengers: Endgame”, in which she and Iron Man (Robert Downy Jr. ), Captain America ( Chris Evans ), and Thor ( Chris Hemsworth ) went to the top villain Thanos ( Josh Brolin ). “Captain Marvel” and “Avengers: Endgame” are both available on the Disney + streaming platform.

Now the first appearance of the mighty heroine should get a sequel. We have already collected all information about the cast, the cinema release and the plot of “Captain Marvel 2” for you.

When Will “Captain Marvel 2” Be In Theaters?

The theatrical release is currently planned for July 8, 2022. It remains to be seen whether anything will change because of the Corona crisis. Due to the pandemic, numerous shoots on other blockbusters such as “Mission: Impossible 7” or “Dune” have been canceled for the time being. The start of the MCU film “Black Widow” with Scarlett Johansson in the lead role has even been postponed from April 30 to October 28, 2020. Changes are also possible here at any time.

What Is The Sequel To “Captain Marvel” About?

The sequel to “Captain Marvel” will not play in the 1990s like Part 1, but in the presence of the MCU and thus after the events of “Avengers: Endgame”, which marked the end of the so-called “Infinity Saga”. Further details on the plot have not yet been confirmed.

But there are plenty of rumors: According to The Direct, “Captain Marvel 2” is supposed to adapt the storyline of the “Secret Invasion” comic series for the cinema. The Skrulls, who appeared in the first part, play a crucial role in this. The alien race will probably also appear in “The Eternals”, which is due to start in February 2021. Accordingly, the sequel to “Captain Marvel”, like “The First Avenger: Civil War”, could become a kind of intermediate “Avengers” part, in which several characters from the MCU cosmos can be seen.

The Direct also reports that Ms. Marvel will also be part of the film. The first Muslim comic character from Marvel is already getting its own series from the streaming provider Disney+. And in 2019, Marvel boss Kevin confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that Ms. Marvel should then also be seen in the MCU’s movies.

Which Stars Are In “Captain Marvel 2”?

So far, only the return of Brie Larson as Carol Denvers/Captain Marvel has been confirmed. After her solo film and “Avengers: Endgame” this would be her third appearance as a superhero. Lashana Lynch, who played Carol Denver’s friend Maria Rambeau in the first part, has already expressed interest in getting back into the role in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She can soon be seen as an agent in “James Bond 007 – No Time to Die”.

It is still unclear whether Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg will resume their roles from “Captain Marvel”. Since all of the MCU’s films are linked in terms of content, there can of course also be appearances by other Avengers and superheroes.
