Chris Hemsworth, the Australian actor known for his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is working hard in the gym to transform his physique. Hemsworth is set to portray former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic.
The 40-year-old actor has been attached to the project for a few years and has mentioned it in past interviews. However, it appears that he is now doubling down on his efforts to gain the necessary muscle mass to convincingly play the hulking blonde mustached wrestler.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Todd Phillips, director of “Joker,” is set to helm the biopic, while Bradley Cooper is expected to be one of the producers. The film is set to be released on Netflix.
“This film is going to be a really fun project. As you can imagine, the preparation for the role is going to be incredibly physical. I’ll have to gain more weight than I ever have before, even more than I did for Thor,” Hemsworth said in 2020.
In addition to the physical transformation, Hemsworth will also have to work on his accent to slip into the character as seamlessly as possible.
However, there are two major obstacles standing in the way of the film’s immediate progress. First, both Hemsworth and Phillips have busy schedules, making progress slow. Additionally, Hemsworth recently discovered that he carries the APOE4 gene, which may increase the chances of developing Alzheimer’s disease. As a result, he felt the need to take a break and focus on his family.
“Now, when I finish this tour this week, I’ll be going home and I’ll have a good dose of free time and just simplify things. Be with the kids, be with my wife,” Hemsworth said.
While a listing for the film already exists on IMDB, it contains very few details about the project.
Chris Hemsworth’s dedication to transforming himself into Hulk Hogan for the biopic is evident as he puts in the work at the gym. Fans can expect an impressive physical performance from the actor when the film finally hits Netflix.
