Back then, Shawn Mendes played his own version of “Lego House,” the song that was released on October 20, 2011, as the third single from his debut album + and as the second single in the United States. “Lego House” was composed by Ed Sheeran, Jake Gosling, and Chris Leonard and was produced by Dea Hamilton.
The music video for “Lego House” was released that same year on the official YouTube channel with the actor Rupert Grint as the protagonist in the body of an obsessive follower who suffers a mental breakdown about to impersonate him in one of his concerts. When Shawn Mendes performed the song, fans were flooded with hundreds of questions about a possible collaboration that never came.
Ed Sheeran has remained amid a prolonged hiatus in music from which he only came out briefly late last year and a few weeks ago to release a song honoring the memory of Michael Gudinski. The British star took the stage to sing “Visiting Hours” which he composed in the middle of his quarantine in Australia.
Visibly moved, the interpreter of “Shape of You” and “Perfect” took the stage and with guitar in hands surprised everyone by singing the new single. Behind him, the screens projected some photos of Ed Sheeran, his wife Cherry Seaborn, and Michael Gudinski, and then they performed a set of their best songs.
