Dune Will Not Be Released Earlier Than HBO Max In Theatres!

Despite the good news anticipating a theatrical release of Dune more than a month before it hit HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s Johanna Fuentes has denied that information.

Dune is one of the most anticipated releases of 2021. Well, in fact, it was one of the most anticipated releases of 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic claimed its original premiere, along with so many other productions. The film ended up in that mixed bag that is Warner’s strategy of releasing its great films simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max during 2021, something that many filmmakers, including Denis Villeneuve, have not liked.

With the recent agreement between AT&T and Discovery, it seemed that the door was opening for Dune to debut in theaters a few weeks before reaching the streaming service, as we told you yesterday and as Legendary Pictures has been claiming for months.

However, Johanna Fuentes, head of communications for WarnerMedia, has taken to Twitter to destroy any information that suggests that the premiere of Dune will not occur simultaneously in both media, as has been the case of Godzilla vs Kong or Mortal Kombat.

With an ironic touch and a little bit to the media, Fuentes has been direct assuring in his tweet that Dune will not change its current premiere format, which has led many fans who are eagerly awaiting Villeneuve’s film to comment on the tweet complaining of the situation. Be that as it may, at least this strategy does not close the door to those who want to see Dune in a big way, we are going to see the glass half full in that regard.

What do you think that Warner continues with its plan to release Dune simultaneously on HBO Max and theaters?
