Fungus Mechanicus: A New Event in Genshin Impact Version 3.5

Fungus Mechanicus is a new event introduced in Genshin Impact version 3.5 that brings players back to Sumeru. In this event, players will control a small army of fungi to take on and destroy the Mechanici on the field. Strategy is key in winning this game!

How to Start the Fungus Mechanicus Event

In order to participate in the event, players must meet two conditions:

  • Be Adventure Rank 30 or higher
  • Complete the Archon Quest “A New Star Approaches”

It is recommended that players also complete the Archon Quest “Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises,” but they can still jump into the event with the Quick Start option if they haven’t completed it. Once they meet the requirements or use the Quick Start button, players can accept the quest Old Friends, New Game in their journal. This will set a marker in southeast Sumeru, in Port Ormos. Speak with Balfour to get started!

What is Fungus Mechanicus?

Fungus Mechanicus is a small-scale RTS minigame where players will control a party of up to four fungi of various elements to defeat enemy Mechanici. The player can control the fungi one by one, or they can leave them to automatically attack the closest Mechanicus to them. Each of the fungi will have its own abilities that will help their allies survive or make it easier to defeat their enemies. There are a total of eight challenges in this event, with a demonstration trial and a new one unlocking each day for the first week of the event. Fungus Mechanicus will be active until Monday, April 3rd, 2023.

Demonstration Challenge: Ordered Trial Guide

For this first challenge, players are only given a pair of fungi: Bongo-Head and Duelblaze, who are affiliated with Hydro and Pyro, respectively. The challenge requires players to trigger a Vaporize reaction to defeat the enemy Mechanici by activating the abilities of the two fungi, one after the other. Bongo-Head can be used to heal the team while maintaining control of Duelblaze to deal heavy damage with its powerful Pyro AoE attack.

Day 1 Challenge: Flame of Samadhi Guide

Players are given five Lil’ Fungi to choose from: the Anemo Fungi Twirly-Whirly, Electro Fungi Blitzara, and the Geo Fungi Rocksteady. Due to the Pyro affinity of Mechanici in this stage, players should bring along Rocksteady and Bongo-Head, but Blitzara and Twirly-Whirly are also useful. There will be three waves of enemies in this challenge, so players must keep their Lil’ Fungi alive throughout them all.

Day 2 Challenge: Icy Clarity Guide

With the second challenge, players are given access to a new Lil’ Fungi: Kindlejoy, the Pyro Fungi. This stage is largely populated with Cryo Mechanici, so it’s recommended to bring the two Pyro Fungi along with Rocksteady and Bongo-Head. Again, multiple waves of enemies will spawn, so players must be ready for a prolonged battle.

Day 3 Challenge: Waterbag Barrier Guide

In this challenge, players receive two new Lil’ Fungi: Gusto-Frosto, a Cryo Fungi, and Magishroom, a Dendro user. The new Mechanicus introduced in this challenge can create a Hydro barrier around itself and its allies, making it essential to have an appropriate team with Gusto-Frosto’s ability to break these barriers.
