Jim Jones, member of the rap group Dipset, recently revealed that he contracted COVID-19 after participating in a Verzuz battle against The LOX. In a teaser for an upcoming episode of the Drink Champs podcast, Jones admitted that the battle was the only time he got COVID-19 and blamed The LOX for giving it to him.
During the Verzuz battle, which took place in 2021 in New York City, The LOX emerged as the winners. However, Jones believes that not only did he lose the battle, but he also contracted the virus from his opponents. He expressed his frustration, saying, ‘On top of everything that night, they gave me Covid. I couldn’t win for nothing.’
Despite the setback, Jones remained productive during the pandemic. He worked tirelessly and delivered nearly 300 features to keep his brand visible in the rap industry. His hard work paid off, as he was able to maintain his presence and generate income during a challenging time.
Earlier this year, Jones expressed his desire for a rematch with The LOX in a Verzuz battle. He suggested that the rematch should take place at Madison Square Garden, a larger venue than the one used for their previous battle. Jones believed that a rematch in a bigger venue with proper security and setup would allow for a better experience and give Dipset a chance to redeem themselves.
The LOX, specifically Jadakiss, responded to Jones’ proposal, stating that he would be open to a rematch. However, no official plans for a rematch have been announced.
It is worth noting that Jones’ revelation about contracting COVID-19 during the Verzuz battle adds an ironic twist to his desire for a rematch. Despite the challenges he faced, Jones remains resilient and continues to pursue opportunities in the music industry.
