The Saint Seiya saga is set to receive the live-action treatment on the big screen with the release of Knights of the Zodiac. The highly-anticipated blockbuster premiere is scheduled for May 12, 2023, exclusively in theaters. Knights of the Zodiac features Mackenyu as Seiya, a streetwise teenager who searches for his sister after her abduction. During one of his brawls, he unknowingly unleashes mystical powers, sending him into a world of warring saints, ancient magical powers, and a goddess in need of protection. Seiya must tap into his inner strength to embrace his destiny and become one of the Knights of the Zodiac.
Madison Iseman plays Sienna, a young woman struggling to harness the power of Athena, while Sean Bean portrays Alman Kido, the tester who pushes Seiya to the limits. Famke Janssen plays the role of Guraad, the leader of a secret organization that seeks to seize the power of Athena.
Tomek Baginski, who created the cinematics for The Witcher series, directed the film. Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken wrote the screenplay, alongside Kiel Murray.
Knights of the Zodiac is produced by Yoshi Ikezawa, Joseph Chou, and Tim Kwok, and executive produced by Kozo Morishita, Katsuhiro Takagi, Jeffrey Chan, and Rick Nathanson. The movie is rated PG-13.
