Lucifer Season 5: Lucifer bosses Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson have explained their thinking behind that major Deckerstar twist in season 5.
In episode 6 of the Netflix show, Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) finally entwined with one another, after it was revealed that the fallen angel subconsciously makes himself vulnerable around Chloe and has developed genuine feelings for her.
But how did Modrovich and Henderson ensure the moment felt authentic?
“It really was no big deal, right?” laughed Modrovich while speaking to Entertainment Weekly. “Yeah, there was a lot of pressure in that moment. We really wanted it to not be too easy.

“Even though it’s been a long journey, within the actual season, we wanted to make it important and make it land. Then on the b-side, we wanted to make sure it wasn’t a happily-ever-after because that’s not only boring, that’s unrealistic.”
She added: “It was a big seminal moment for us for sure and for the characters. We talked ad nauseam about how to handle it. And I think it turned out pretty good! Also, we wanted it to be hot.
“They’ve had these moments where they’ve come together a little bit and they’ve shared these sweet or emotional kisses. We wanted this to be just gloves off, you know?”
Elsewhere, Henderson spoke about which episode in season 5A he feels is the biggest gamble, and teased that season 5B will include the show’s most emotional moment yet.
And the show’s star Tom Ellis recently revealed that he went against advice from some of his team when he supported the campaign to save Lucifer from cancellation.
“Everyone kept saying: ‘It’s very, very unlikely that this will happen’,” he recalled. “And I’m still going: ‘So you’re saying there’s a chance?'”
