Orlando Bloom recently revealed on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” that he had his own run-in with The Bling Ring, the infamous thieves who robbed multiple Hollywood celebrities and were also the subject of director Sofia Coppola’s 2013 film. Bloom explained that the thieves stole a collection of watches he had collected over the years and he was eventually able to track them down with the help of a private detective.
The actor was told his watches could be retrieved if they paid another man to get them, but was secretive about his contact details. After months of calling the man, Bloom finally got the number of the shop where the watches were located. He wired himself with a microphone and went to the shop, only to be told to come back another day.
When Bloom returned the next day, he was taken to meet the man’s daughter in a shop. He negotiated with the man to get his watches back without involving the police, and was eventually successful. On the table in the man’s office, Bloom found a box containing five of the ten watches he had lost. He took the box with him and thanked the man before leaving.
Orlando Bloom’s story is a reminder that it is important to protect one’s belongings and valuables. Although Bloom was lucky to get his watches back, it is best to take the necessary precautions to avoid such a situation in the first place.
