Shakira recently released a new collaboration with Karol G called “TQG”, which seemingly addresses her split from ex-husband Gerard Piqué. In the song, Shakira sings in Spanish that she is “already set” all by herself, and was “hurt” by her exes’ new romance. The lyrics also warn their exes’ “new babies” that they do not “compete for men” in the chorus. She also suggests she’s “much hotter, much tougher, much lighter” since the split. Shakira and Piqué revealed they were calling it quits after 11 years together back in June 2022. Since then, Piqué has since confirmed his romance with Clara Chia Marti, with it being rumoured that he cheated on Shakira with her.

The track comes after Shakira appeared to diss her ex in her music video for “Te Felicito” with Rauw Alejandro, showing a man’s head on a platter in her fridge. She also sang in January’s “BZRP Music Session #53,” “You left me the in-laws as my neighbours / Media outlets at my door and in debt.”

In the song, Shakira implies that Piqué liked one of her posts and “wants to get back together”, but she insists the fact her life is “even better” without him has “offended” the sportsman.

Shakira’s new song “TQG” is a powerful statement about self-love and independence. In the track, she expresses that she is “already set” all by herself and is “much hotter, much tougher, much lighter” since the split. She also warns her exes’ “new babies” that they do not “compete for men” in the chorus and implies that Piqué wanted to get back together but was offended by the fact that her life is “even better” without him. This song is a great reminder that we all have the strength to move on from heartbreak and thrive.
