Warner Bros. to begin production of Shazam !: Fury of the Gods with all-stars already confirmed
“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” will go into production and filming soon and will feature many returning stars from the first film, including younger and older versions of Shazam.
The younger cast will include Billy ( Asher Angel ), Freddy ( Jack Dylan Grazer ), Eugene ( Ian Chen ), Pedro ( Jovan Armand), Darla ( Faithe Herman ), and Mary ( Grace Fulton )
In addition to Zachary Levi, who is reprising the title role, returning adult heroes will include Ross Butler, Adam Brody, DJ Cotrona, Meagan Good, and Michelle Borth.
Many of the actors are preparing to begin production, including the youngest of the group, Herman. The star has been busy filming the latest season of This Is Us, but revealed on Twitter that she is gearing up to play Darla once again.
“The last day of my This Is Us season 5 filming and then I’m off to start Shazam 2 next week. I’m so grateful for these incredible opportunities.”
“Happy Thursday! Stay safe and healthy everyone #shazam2 #furyofthegods #ThisIsUs,” Herman wrote on Twitter earlier this week.
In addition to the returning cast members, it was announced in March that Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren would be joining the sequel to Shazam! like one of the villains, Hespera, a daughter of Atlas.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods delayed by COVID-19.
Like many productions in the last year, Shazam! Fury of the Gods has been forced to be delayed multiple times for both development reasons and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The film has been assigned three different release dates, including April 1, 2022, later November 4, 2022, and is currently scheduled to release on June 2, 2023.
“Shazam! Fury of the Gods is now a summer 2023 movie,” director David F. Sandberg tweeted about the film’s delay last year.
“WB was like ‘can’t you just wear fake beards on boys?’ and I was like, ‘If Tom Cruise goes to space for real, then we can wait for the kids to grow real beards! It’s a big plot point.’
In addition to Shazam! 2 production is also officially underway for Black Adam, which will see Dwyane Johnson leading his first major comic book movie. Black Adam is Shazam’s greatest enemy, which is why DC fans are looking forward to the characters’ future.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is scheduled to hit theaters on June 2, 2023, after production delays caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
