A crossover movie between the MCU’s Spider-Man franchise and Sony’s Venom is on the way, according to a rumor.
A new movie with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Venom could be cooking in the Marvel Studios studios, in an epic crossover that would arrive at some point in the next few years, according to the report from the Giant Freakin Robot portal.
Over the next several years we could finally see a battle between the arachnid and his villain from outer space as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe ( MCU ), an event that millions have been enlisting for a few years now.
According to the portal, the ambitious project would be taken as a priority for Sony, which is currently about to release the second part of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, a film in which we will see for the first time on the big screen the red symbiote that fuses his powers with the serial killer Cletus Kasady.
Will there be a multiverse in Spider-Man: No Way Home?
The introduction of Sony’s Venom in the MCU would occur in the context of the multiverse that, according to the predictions of the experts, would be opening in the next movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is scheduled to premiere in October 2022.
As you may recall, although Sony currently owns the cinematic rights to the arachnid, Marvel Studios obtained a gracious concession to include the character within its film series. Thanks to this, the Disney company can develop ideas and stories with Spidey.
A new fight between Spider-Man and Venom.
Wall-crawler fans will agree that we had an acceptable version of the otherworldly anti-hero in the finale of the Sam Raimi-directed trilogy, starring Tobey Maguire.
In that tape, the invading symbiote was played by Topher Grace. In fact, it is known that Raimi was not interested in including Venom in the film, since his circulation was the Sandman. The pressures of the production of Spider-Man 3 made him force the introduction of the character and the results we all know by now.
