Before being Spider-Man, Tom Holland apparently auditioned for a Star Wars role that he thinks ultimately went to John Boyega, but he screwed it up and didn’t get the role.
This hearing story comes through Backstage in a new interview with the actor from Spider-Man and Uncharted. Before becoming synonymous with Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and before landing the role of famed treasure hunter Nathan Drake, Holland apparently had “four or five” auditions for a role in what we now know as Star Wars. : The Force Awakens. .
“I remember my audition for Star Wars,” Holland told Backstage when asked about the horror stories he had at the auditions. “I was in like four or five auditions, and I think he was auditioning for the role of John Boyega [Finn]. I remember doing this scene with this lady, God bless her, and she was just a drone. So I was doing all of this, like, ‘We have to get back to the ship!’ and she’d say, ‘Beep, bloop bloop, beep bloop.’
Holland said he couldn’t stop laughing at how funny he found it. He also felt really bad because it was clear that the person was trying very hard to be a convincing android or drone.
“Obviously I didn’t get the part,” he continued. “That was not my best moment.”
It’s a great story, and it’s not hard to imagine how that mess could have led to the reality where Holland plays Peter Parker instead of Finn.
