The end of Supernatural in 2020 after 15 long seasons, was a blow to all the viewers who were enjoying the incredible dark fantasy stories of brothers Sam (played by Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles). Now, two years after their last broadcast, the main actors are meeting again for their new series in which they will participate together.
Since Supernatural came to an end, Padalecki and Ackles have navigated their own separate projects. Padalecki began starring in The CW television network’s Walker in 2021, an American crime drama and reimagining of the television series Walker, Texas Ranger. This new show follows Cordell Walker (Padalecki), a widowed father who struggles to reconnect with his family while also piecing together the circumstances of his wife’s death.
While Ackles, is working with the same producer of Supernatural, Eric Kripke, for the premiere of season 3 of the Amazon Prime Video series, The Boys. This superhero black comedy series follows a group of vigilantes who try to expose the abuses committed by superheroes.
However, with the production of season 2 of Padalecki’s project, Walker, both actors have met again to participate in special episodes, which is why a welcome speech was prepared on the first day of filming for actor Jensen Ackles. .
During an interview for EW, Jensen Ackles shared what happened on the first day directing an episode of the Walker series. While Ackles had previously directed on the set of Supernatural, it was a bit different for him to walk into an entirely new set in the role of director. Which is why Padalecki supported him by giving a speech introducing him as his brother.
“Jared had laid the groundwork to say: This is my brother. I’m here because of what he and I built together.”
“He gave a great speech to the whole team, saying: We wouldn’t be here without the work this guy did with me. The Commander-in-Chief endorsed me, so even though he was a guest in someone else’s house, it was a house that felt very welcoming.” Ackles assured.
Interestingly, the two actors’ friendship was put on the line last year, when Ackles revealed that he and his wife were developing a Supernatural prequel series, The Winchesters, with The CW. Which made Padalecki upset because he hadn’t been kept informed and he had no idea The Winchesters was in development.
Despite everything, the two have put aside the topic of upcoming Supernatural projects, and have strengthened their friendship by helping each other in the production of the episodes of season 2 of Walker.
