SWAT is a police and criminal court drama that premiered on the CBS broadcast network in November 2018, and has been on the air for all these years with Shemar Moore in the lead as Sergeant Daniel Harrelson, also known as Hondo. The series is currently airing with its season 5, and this Sunday, April 10, it will meet the milestone of 100 episodes.

Admittedly, the crime action drama SWAT has been one of the big hits that CBS currently has on screen. With season 5, it’s averaging 6.6 million viewers and a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49, according to the most recent reports.

CBS announced this week which fan-favorite series have been greenlit for an upcoming installment spanning the 2022-2023 season. However, he kept quiet about SWAT until finally revealing that the hit police drama set in Los Angeles has been renewed for season 2, as expected.

The first to reveal the good news was the main star of SWAT Shemar Moore, who announced the fate of the program through his official account on the social network twitter with a message full of emotion. Later, it was CBS that confirmed what Hondo’s interpreter said in the police series.

It’s important to remember, SWAT is the only CBS scripted series to have risen in ratings this season, up 40% in total viewers and nearly 12% in demo. In today’s television climate, new is constant, so the fact that the show has flourished despite multiple time slots shows that there really is a strong fan base.
