The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Game Set to Launch in May

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is now all set to launch on PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on May 25. However, the Nintendo Switch version is scheduled for a release later this year.

Gollum’s Gameplay

The gameplay of the game will blend stealth and action elements as Gollum sneaks around Middle-earth. Players will have to make choices that align with either the character’s darker side or his gentler half known as Sméagol. The developers revealed that the game takes inspiration directly from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, rather than Peter Jackson’s film adaptations of the books.

The game experienced some delays en route to its new May release date. IGN saw the game last year and wasn’t overly impressed with the hands-off presentation.

Gollum’s Release Date and Competition with AAA Releases

Gollum’s release date comes amid a packed time for AAA releases with Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Street Fighter 6, Diablo IV, and Final Fantasy XVI all set to release in the surrounding weeks.

The launch of this game is a part of what feels like a big The Lord of the Rings renaissance, with Amazon Prime’s Rings of Power, new movies on the way, and, of course, the incredible LEGO Rivendell set.
