Tom Brady, the recently retired NFL star, believes Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show was ultimately a “good thing for the NFL”. In an interview with the ‘Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray’ podcast, Brady said that despite being focused on the game at the time, the incident triggered more publicity for halftime shows.

Justin Timberlake, who was responsible for the ‘wardrobe malfunction’ at the hands of Janet Jackson, issued a public apology to both Jackson and former girlfriend, Britney Spears in 2021 for his lack of support during the backlash.

Despite the controversy, Tom Brady believes that the incident actually helped to raise the profile of the NFL in the end, mirroring the idea that ‘any publicity is good publicity’.
