‘YuYu Hakusho’ Live Action Series Coming to Netflix in 2023

Welcome to the famous spirit world. Netflix has recently announced a 2023 release date for the live-action adaptation of the most famous and iconic Manga series YuYu Hakusho that is written and illustrated by the famous and legendary manga writer Yoshihiro Togashi who has also created the fan-favourite Hunter X Hunter. The show is also going to join Cowboy bebop and the previously mentioned Once Piece live-action shows that are in the works at Netflix.

The famous Manga series YuYu Hakusho portrays the story of Yusuke Urameshi who is a teenage delinquent who gets killed after getting hit by a car while trying to save a child from it. After taking numerous tests that were given to him by the son of the ruler of Underworld, Yusuke is revived and now appointed as the title of “Underworld Detective” and is given the task of investigating various cases that involve apparitions and demons in the human world. The manga ran for 175 chapters that saw Yusuke amongst the other asks retrieving all the items that were stolen from the underworld and fighting demons in the tournament.

Although the show was announced last year, it is likely that they are only now starting to film due to all the delays that arise due to the coronavirus pandemic. The original Manga series ran from December 1990 to July 1994 with every instalment illustrated and written by Togashi. It was then updated into an anime and it was running in Japan for about 112 episodes that were released from October 1992 to December 1994.

There are also two films that are associated with this Manga and anime series named Yu Yu Hakusho: The Movie and Yu Yu Hakusho the Movie: Poltergeist Report. it was released in the theatres in Japan in 1993 and 1994. There was an American producer as well who produced the English dub of this anime series that was soon aired from February 2002 to April 2006 under the name Ghost Files.

After learning all about this, we can YuYu Hakusho is considered as one of the most influential anime and manga series of the ’90s. It also inspired many shows like Jujutsu Kaisen as well. For now, there is not much known about when this series is going to arrive on Netflix because there is no assigned cast, directors or writers for the series. What we do know is that the series will be filled with live-action and it will surely release by 2023.
